FSH has taught riders from the age of 2 – 70 years old.  Acceptance in to FSH’s lesson program strictly depends on the interest, goals and commitment of the individual.

No, you don’t have to own a horse. FSH has very good lesson horses.

Barbara has had some very successful Stock Seat Equitation riders in the Arabian and Quarter Horse  arenas but currently only takes students in the English Disciplines.

How Often Should I Take Lessons?
In order to develop the muscle memory to ride well, students should plan on taking a minimum of one lesson each week. Two lessons each week with practice times in between are ideal.

If I don’t own a horse how can I practice?
It is possible to arrange for practice sessions on FSH School horses once you have reached a certain level of proficiency.

Do you require that students wear helmets when they ride?
Yes. Everyone wears a helmet while riding, even the instructors.  The helmet must be made for Equestrian Activities and must be ASTM/SEI certified.

Do I have to have fancy riding pants?
Just like bathing suits are designed for swimming and  bicycle shorts are designed for cycling, breeches are designed for riding.  The make it easier to move and have protective patches on the knees.  You may ride in jeans  but  jeans frequently cause saddle sores.
