FSH Horses
“Bert”
is a beautiful, almost white, Thoroughbred gelding. He’s a pretty big boy
standing 16.3 hands tall, but his kind attitude makes him a lovely horse to
learn with. Bert is a rescue horse who was headed for the dealer’s yard several
years ago. We’re lucky that we met Bert because he is very happy in his new
job. Bert has nice flatwork, lateral movements, jumps, and gives lunge lessons.
In his past life, Bert spent some time on the race track and was also shown as a
jumper and at first level in dressage.

“Hogan” is a flea bitten gray, Thoroughbred gelding. He’s also a big boy standing about 16.3 hands high. Hogan, too, is a rescued horse who needed a good alternative to the dealer, when we met him . Hogan is a willing lesson horse who knows all the ropes. Hogan has good flat work and is a reliable jumper, but Hogan expects not to be told how to do his job. He believes students are here to learn, not to teach him his job. In his past life, Hogan raced and was a hunter.
“Chocolate Chip”
is the smallest pony that we have at FSH. She is 12.1 hands tall and is a cute
tri color pinto who gets
attention no matter where she goes. Don’t let Chippy’s
size fool you though, as she has taught many children to ride. Chippy has taken
her riders to camp, horse shows and Pony Club Rallies in show jumping and
dressage. She is great on trail rides, loves to get in water, and can do games
as well as the big horses. She is a dependable pony jumper who is never
frightened by new obstacles. Chippy has also been used in therapeutic riding
lessons and is a trustworthy leadline pony for toddlers. She is a faithful Pony
Club mount and has started at least 6 children on their way to ratings in Pony
Club. Chippy was one of Barbara’s daughter’s first pony and now she is ridden by
Barbara’s granddaughter. Chippy only teaches small beginners these days. Chippy
has been a member of the FSH family for 17 years. Students have written poetry
and songs about Chippy, plus she is the character in a children’s book. Chippy
has done almost everything a pony can do, including coming in the house- but
let’s keep that a secret!
“Blue
Blazes” is better know as BB. He was raised at FSH. His mother was a well
known pony jumper, Nutmeg and his sire was the AHSA Welsh Pony of the Year, Alra
Blue Radiance. BB is a beautiful chestnut color with a blaze, of course. BB has
fox hunted, evented, won blue ribbons in jumping classes at shows and blue
ribbons at training level dressage shows. He’s also done lots of Pony Club
activities including lessons, clinics, Dressage Rallies, games rallies, Show
Jumping Rallies, and Pony Club camp. BB loves trail rides and LOVES to jump. BB
is about 13.1 hands tall and he knows he’s pretty special.
“Jumper”
is a brown 16 hand,
quarter horse/ warmblood cross gelding.
Jumper has evented and Show Jumped. He has very smooth gaits. He’s a good trail
horse and an extremely reliable jumper. He has good flat work and basic
dressage, good lateral work. He requires a little more aware rider as he is not
always sure he can trust his rider. Jumper loves attention and has a really
friendly personality and he LOVES to eat. Jumper got his name as a baby in
Texas because he kept jumping out of his pen.
“Rob”
is a 14.3 hand chestnut
Arabian gelding. Rob is from a famous breeding program
in New Mexico that bred Arabians for endurance and jumping. Rob is still
learning but he has a great personality and is doing very well in his training
and jumping. Rob is reliable on trails and is not afraid of new things. He has
one of the nicest trots of all the lesson horses. Rob will become a premier
lesson horse for teens who want to jump, go to small events, attend Pony Club
and have fun.
“Spud”
is an appendix Quarter Horse gelding. He is 16 hands
tall and has one of the
prettiest faces you’ll find on a horse. Spud’s bloodlines contain royalty in
both his Thoroughbred and his Quarter Horse ancestors. With a speed index of 103
Spud won his share of races and still has an amazing standing start. He combines
the laid back quarter horse work ethic with thoroughbred lines. He is very
agile over jumps. When the Foxes were first introduced to Spud he was skin and
bones. He was genuinely starving. He had huge long feet because his feet had
also been neglected. He had a hole in his foot and a huge knot in his chest.
The Foxes felt so sorry for him that they brought him home just so he wouldn’t
starve to death. It took a year and a lot of hoof supplements for the hole to
grow out on his hoof and it took 3 years to get him to look like he does today.
He was so thin that the first year he must have been filling up all of the empty
places on his insides. Today Spud is a gorgeous horse full of energy with lots
and lots of personality. He’s been to Pony Club Camp, loves trail rides, and is
used in lessons. We are hoping to take him to his first event in the spring of
2009.
“Jackson”
belongs to Alisha. He’s a classic bay 16.3 hand Thoroughbred gelding. Jackson
was a winning race horse in his previous life and has provided lots of
challenges for Alisha. Jackson is a powerful jumper and he has lovely gaits.
Alisha and Jackson have a special partnership in dressage and jumping. Jackson
is a very kind horse with lots of energy.
“NS Fiero”
is a beautiful 16 hand chestnut gelding with a wide white blaze and socks.
He is
a Canadian National Champion in 2nd level
dressage, a Reserve
Canadian National Champion
in First level dressage, a top ten Show Hack, a Top
Ten Hunter pleasure horse, and he has numerous Regional Championships. He has
an extensive show record all of which was accomplished before he turned 7 years
old. Fiero received his “Legion of Supreme Honor” at 6 years old. He and Barbara
have had fun working with Harry Whitney, Horse Whisperer. In his 20’s now, Fiero
is officially retired although he still retains his phenomenal elevated trot and
is “hands down” the best mover at FSH.
“*Arosa”
is the Queen of FSH. She is 27 years old and has belonged to Barbara for 19
years. *Arosa is imported from the Janow Podlaski Stud in Poland and has a
royal Arabian pedigree. Arosa’s mother, Arra, was the European National
Champion Halter Mare and the Polish National Champion. Arra also was a Polish
Triple Crown race winner. Arra is by the famous Bandos out of a Comet
daughter. Arosa’s sire is *El Paso , the United States National Champion
Halter horse, owned by Poland until Armand Hammer bought him for $1,000,000.
“Arosa just barely got started on a show career when she had a horrible
accident. When she healed Barbara only rode her as a pleasure horse, but a few
lucky children got to take Arosa to Pony Club Dressage Rally. The last person
who ever rode Arosa was Emma. Arosa has 2 beautiful daughters.
